Gold & White
Porcelain, Gold Luster
This series is an exploration using a stark white porcelain clay to convey simple clean forms. These forms are wrapped in minimalist graphic designs that are amplified through the use of 24K gold. Gold lines and dots are able to speak with the white noise in each individual piece and becoming a prominent focal point.
Stoneware, Colored Slips
I went searching for a way to maintain a simple, clean form, yet treat the surface of the clay in order to give character and motion as I do with my porcelain work. The slips are applied, then removed in a semi-controlled way giving a different effect on each piece.
Influenced by labored process and things coming together to support the overall form. The clay is colored, manipulated, thrown and then scraped clean to reveal the marbling. Each vessel would not be complete without the help of the opposing colored porcelain.
